The Institution of the Western Cape (UWC) is a public university in Bellville, South Africa, a Cape Town suburb. The South African government established the institution in 1960 as a university exclusively for Colored people.

UWC’s primary concerns concerning higher education access, equity, and quality emerge from extensive practical involvement in aiding the historically underprivileged to fully participate.

To assist you with navigating the UWC admission process, the UWC application provides a course list, entry requirements, and all application materials.

The UWC Online Application window for undergraduate credentials (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees), Honors degrees & postgraduate diplomas, and Master’s & doctorate qualifications is currently open for the current academic year.
If you want to apply for undergraduate or postgraduate programs at the University of the Western Cape, you must do so using the university’s online application system.
For first-time University of the Western Cape applicants, University of the Western Cape students moving to a new qualification and or specialty, and University of the Western Cape students changing to a new qualification and or specialization, the application window is open. Students who have finished a higher certificate or any other program and plan to continue their undergraduate studies, as well as those who have previously applied for admission but were denied or who were offered a spot but did not take it and did not register.

2023 UWC Application Form

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) will accept applications for the academic year 2023 from April to November.
