About University of the Free State

  • The University of the Free State (UFS) has a long history as one of South Africa’s oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning. It began as the Grey University College in Bloemfontein in 1904 with six students studying in the Humanities. Today, it is a multi-campus institution with two diverse campuses in Bloemfontein and one in Qwaqwa in the scenic Eastern Free State, with over 40 000 students in its seven faculties, an increasing number of international students and associates, and ever-expanding scope of active involvement in and contribution to its surrounding communities.

How Do I Enroll in UFS?

  • STEP 1: Accept your admission offer by logging in to https://www.ufs.ac.za/studyoffer.
  • STEP 2: Enter your student ID and password into the Oracle PeopleSoft system.
  • STEP 3: Navigate to the Tasks tile on the Student Homepage in PeopleSoft and choose the assignment. Under the “Tasks” tile, there will be an activity named “Registration 2021.”
  • STEP 4: Finish the work by completing the activities listed on the left side of the Student Task WorkCentre page. You will be able to log out and return later to complete the different tasks until the job is completed.
  • STEP 5: Double-check that your registration proof covers all of the modules (courses) you wish to enroll in. Proof of Registration is available on the Student Centre website and will be emailed to you the day after you register.
  • The University of the Free State is nearly 115 years old and includes three campuses in the province: Bloemfontein, Qwaqwa, and South Campus.
