About North-West University

NWU online application dates 2023-2024
Application Deadline: Applications are accepted from March to September 30 each year. (Applications received beyond this deadline will not be considered.)
NWU Online Application various Closing Dates
- Non-selection courses: 30 September
- Music: 31 August
- Graphic Design: 31 August
- Engineering: 30 September
- Occupational Hygiene: 30 September
- Urban and Regional planning: 30 September
- Pharmacy: 31 July
- All other selection courses: 31 July
NWU candidates must provide supporting documentation (where applicable)
- Authenticated copy of your ID/passport
- Authenticated copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate, O/A Levels, or other applicable school leaving qualification/certificate.
- If you are an international candidate, you must provide proof from Institutions South Africa (formerly known as HESA) that you are eligible for admission to degree studies at South African universities. Refer to the undergraduate prospectus for further details.
- If you attended other universities, please provide certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct.
- International candidates from non-English speaking nations must provide proof of English competency.
- If the prior qualification(s) was/were achieved at a foreign university, the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluates it (outside South Africa).
- If you are applying for a master’s or Ph.D., you must submit a research proposal/proposed title for your dissertation/thesis.
- If you are an international student, you will need a valid study visa to study in South Africa.
- Please ensure that you have read the requirements above before applying online.
- Please verify that you have all of the HESA/SAQA paperwork needed to complete your application.
- When paying the application fee, please use the reference APPN (followed by your student number).
- Please give the system 24 to 48 hours to process your payment.
